Washington Football Team vs Dallas Cowboys Betting Picks, Lines & Predictions
The fact that both teams play in the dreadful NFC East makes the Thanksgiving matchup between Washington (3-7 SU, 4-5-1 ATS) and Dallas (3-7 SU, 2-8 ATS) a game with serious playoff implications even though they both have only three wins so far. The other two teams in the division, the Eagles and the Giants, also have three wins each making the NFC wide open. The Cowboys were thought to be dead and buried after Dak Prescott’s injury, but now with a win on Thursday, they can overtake the top spot in the division. The two teams already met once this season with Washington winning easily at home.
Washington Football Team vs Dallas Cowboys Betting Line Movement
The first time the two met this season in week 7, Washington was +1 home underdog and covered without too much trouble. For this one, Dallas once again opened as -1 favorites at the pay per head bookies, but after a nice win in Minnesota, a lot of action went their way pushing the line to -3. The total has dropped to 46 after being as high as 48.
Notes On The Washington Football Team
Washington may have got away with a seemingly convincing 20-9 win against Cincinnati on Sunday, but have struggled until the moment of a devastating injury to Joe Burrow which swung the momentum in WFT’s favor. Washington was trailing 7-9 after the first half and have allowed 247 yards of offense in that period. Washington’s pass defense, which leads the league with only 195.4 yards per game allowed, managed to shut down Ryan Finley, the Bengals’ backup QB for the rest of the game paving the way for Washington’s win. The game on Sunday also marked the first win for Alex Smith after returning from a horrific injury that kept him of the field for two years.
With Dallas ranked 31st in rushing defense, we can expect Washington to try to get downs on the ground a lot. This may be good news for RB Antonio Gibson who was excellent last week with 16 carries for 94 yards and two receptions and could be a sneaky good fantasy pick on Thursday.
Notes On The Dallas Cowboys
On Sunday, against Minnesota, Dallas scored more than 30 points for the first time since week 5 and game against the Giants and, also, after a long while, looked like a quality football team. QB Andy Dalton marked his return from a concussion and Covid-19 protocol with the best game under the center for Dallas since Dak Prescott got injured throwing for three touchdowns. RB Ezequiel Elliot also looked like his old self with the season-high 103 rushing yards. The defense managed to recover two key fumbles and continued the positive trajectory of improvement in the last couple of games.
There’s no reason why Zeke Elliot shouldn’t extend his run of the good form, especially since Washington’s rushing defense is nowhere as good as it is against passing. Also, now that Andy Dalton is back, the opposing defense won’t solely focus on him. Dalton’s return to form is also good news for receivers Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb who have a chance to repeat a good outing they had in Minnesota.
Thanksgiving Day Football Betting Pick:OVER 46
Eight of the last ten meetings between Dallas and Washington ended in OVER, and we expect that trend to continue. Washington has a bad defensive record on the road and the same can be said for Dallas playing at home.
