Tiger Woods Rejoins The PGA Tour This Week At The Memorial

The last time Tiger Woods was in the field for a PGA Tour event was in mid-February. He placed 68th in The Genesis Invitational. This week, he will look to shake of the rust in a bid to win his sixth career Memorial title.

When Is Tiger Woods Rejoining The PGA Tour This Week At The Memorial?

Played at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, the Memorial is more commonly known as Jack Nicklaus’ tournament. This is the case given his close roots to this course and the state of Ohio.

First round action in this year’s Memorial gets underway on Thursday, July 16. Many of the top players on today’s PGA Tour are in the field this week. Professional golf resumed its schedule in early June following the coronavirus shutdown in mid-March. This will be the deepest field since the PGA restart.

Woods may be a main attraction given his Hall of Fame credentials. However, he is a bit deeper down the list from a betting standpoint.

MyBookie has opened Bryson DeChambeau as a +1000 favorite to win. He won the 2018 Memorial and, more recently, he won this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. Held over the 4th of July holiday weekend, he posted four-straight rounds of 67 or lower. DeChambeau has now placed eighth or better in each of his last four tournaments.

The betting odds to win the Memorial at the best Sportsbooks for the rest of the Top 5 are:

  1. Justin Thomas +1100
  2. Patrick Cantlay +1200
  3. Rory McIlroy +1400
  4. Dustin Johnson +1700

Tiger would be next on the board at +2000. He is always going to draw lower odds given his continued popularity with the betting public. However, time off and current playing form drain quite a bit of value from his odds.

Thomas is a regular among the favorites as is McIlroy and Johnson. Cantlay is high on the board this week as the Memorial’s defending champion.

Cashing in on a straight-up winner bet in golf is always a low probability play. This field is deep enough to add 20 players to the list of best bet plays.

Brooks Koepka is one of the best players in the world and ranked sixth in the World Rankings. You can get favorable +2800 odds he wins this week. Jon Rahm is second in that ranking behind McIlroy and his odds to win are +2200.

The best value bets for this week’s Memorial can be found in MyBookie’s head-to-head matchups. The betting odds are set at -110 for both DeChambeau and Thomas in a head-to-head matchup. This is based on which player posts the best total score of the two. You can bet a draw at +1600 odds.

Head-to-head between McIlroy and Johnson, Rory gets the nod at -125 with plus money (+105) on Dustin. Koepka is listed at even money +100 odds in a matchup against Rahm as a -120 favorite.
