Sunday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 Picks, Odds, Lines, Props, Parlays, & Predictions
This week Sunday Night Football betting matchup features disappointing teams that are somehow still in the playoff hunt. The Dallas Cowboys (2-5 SU, 0-7 ATS) will probably start their third-string quarterback, while Philadelphia (2-4-1 SU, 2-5 ATS) has plenty of NFL betting issues of their own, but is coming out of an important win against another NFC East rival, the Giants.
Sunday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles Week Line Movement
The Philadelphia Eagles opened as the small -3 favorites, but with Andy Dalton most likely out, the line has soared to 10.5 at mostNFL betting sportsbooks. The Dallas quarterback news has also influenced the total, which stands at 43 after opening at 47.
Thoughts On The Dallas Cowboys Beating The Philadelphia Eagles
Andy Dalton is in concussion protocol, but judging by the hit he took, it’s hard to believe that he will suit up for the Sunday game. This means that the starting QB will be the rookie, Ben DiNucci, 7th round pick out of James Madison University. The Dallas offense has already suffered a significant drop-off without Dak Prescott and this news will probably make things even worse. And their offense is the sole reason that the Cowboys even have a glimmer of hope for the playoffs since their defense has been simply horrible. They rank last in points and rushing yards allowed, and fifth from the bottom in total yards against them.
DiNucci didn’t have much of a chance to show what he can do after replacing Dalton last week, but even with seven days of preparation, it’s hard to see how he can have a good game on Sunday. Especially considering how porous the Dallas offensive line is. He should be nowhere near your fantasy lineup, but he also drives down the value of the rest of the team. WR Amari Cooper was the only one with a decent performance last week, but most of his catches came with Andy Dalton still in. RB Ezekiel Elliot hasn’t been very good for the last couple of weeks, and with a rookie under center, he’ll receive even more attention from the Eagles defense.
Thoughts On The Philadelphia Eagles Defeating The Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles are also ravaged by injuries, especially to the skill players in their offense. The arsenal of weapons at Carson Wentz’s disposal seems to be shrinking every week, but still should be enough to deal with the Dallas abysmal defense. The second consecutive win over divisional rivals would make Philly favorites to get out of the NFC East, and they will try to impose themselves from the get-go.
Carson Wentz may have been inconsistent this season, but his stat sheet looks pretty decent. Last week he threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns and now has at least a touchdown in 5 of 6 games so far. Going against the Dallas defense is a treat for every quarterback in the league and expect big numbers from him on Sunday. The same goes for his wide receivers, especially Travis Fulgham who has established himself as the No1 receiving option in the depleted Eagles offense.
NFL Week 8 Sunday Night Football Beting Pick -10.5
The NFL betting line is pretty high, but Dallas is starting a rookie making his debut on the road and Philly defense will pounce on him every chance they get. Also, the Eagles are coming off a long week and will make use of the added time for recovery.
