Stolen Slot Machine Cash Boxes. Will Las Vegas Police Find The Loot?
As cash businesses, casinos and slot machine rooms have always attracted criminals. Modern security systems have mostly put a stop to these acts. However, every once in a while we hear the news of attempts to steal money from these establishments. Lately, several casinos and bars around Las Vegas Valley have been subject to an unusual series of thefts.
Las Vegas has reported that a group of criminals has targeted local gaming businesses over the last couple of weeks. They have found a way to steal slot machine cash boxes and get away without being caught. For now, LVPD has not released all the details of these criminal activities. We still don’t know which and how many businesses have been hit so far. There’s also no information on how much money has been stolen. What we do know is that the thieves are still on the loose. Reportedly, the police have a few good leads on the perpetrators. However, they’re asking for the public’s help in solving these cases.
Will Las Vegas Police Find The Loot From The Stolen Slot Machine Cash Boxes?
The way this group operates seems pretty simple. One of the criminals takes a seat at the slot machine just as any other regular customer. Seemingly, they’re putting some change in the machine and playing the game. What the thief is actually doing is picking/manipulating the cash box lock. Once the machine is unlocked, the criminal grabs the box and makes a getaway.
While no details are released, we know that the police are looking for four individuals. They have been seen leaving the scenes of crime. Two men and two women are believed to have been involved. The suspects are said to be driving two different cars. One is a white Nissan Armada SUV and the other is a white Chrysler 300.
The Chrysler has unique features like large rims and low-profile tires so should be pretty easy to spot.
The first suspect is a Hispanic male in his mid-30s or 40s. He’s about 5 feet 6 inches tall. The second suspect is a blonde Hispanic heavy-set woman. During the thefts, she is usually wearing a baseball hat turned backward. Police are also on the lookout for a Hispanic male in his late 20s or 30s. He’s about 180 pounds and between 5’5″ and 5’8″ tall. This thief was last seen wearing a red zip-up hoodie, dark pants, a black t-shirt, and a black baseball cap. The only information on the fourth suspect is that it’s a white female. On their Facebook page, Northeast Area Command has published a photo of one of the perpetrators.
The Northeast Area Command advised slot machine business to be on alert. Every patron entering or exiting facilities should be acknowledged. They should frequently scan for the rooms and slot machines. Also, business owners should make sure that their security systems are working.
Any theft should be immediately reported to the police.
Over the last few months, Las Vegas has seen a significant uptick in crime activities. To put the situation under control, the police have increased their presence in the area. This resulted in 1.229 arrests in the last four months of 2021.
