NFL Week 8 Prime Time Betting Picks
Division battles between teams with losing records create a sense of urgency for Thursday’s and Sunday’s prime time games. Tom Brady and the high-flying Tampa Bay Buccaneers take center stage on Monday night.
NFL Week 8 Prime Time Betting Picks For Thursday Night Football- Atlanta Falcons (1-6) at Carolina Panthers (3-4)
Intertops online sportsbook has opened the Panthers as three-point home favorites. The total line is 49 points.
Atlanta has been snake-bit this season with blown leads and bad breaks. The result is one straight-up win while going 2-5 against the spread. Carolina has been able to cover in four of its last five games ATS. However, I have zeroed in on the recent betting trends for the total.
The total has stayed UNDER in six of the last seven meetings of this NFC South tilt in Carolina. I am taking the UNDER again on Thursday night.
Sunday Night Football- Dallas Cowboys (2-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (2-4-1)
Sunday night’s NFC East battle for first place has Philadelphia favored by 7 ½ points. The total is set at 43 ½ points.
One team has to win this division despite all four losing records. Right now, Philadelphia appears to have the inside track. The Dallas Cowboys have managed to score a total of 13 points with Andy Dalton at quarterback. He remains questionable for Sunday night after taking a hit to the head in last Sunday’s loss to Washington.
The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-5 ATS this season but Dallas as failed to cover in all seven games. Take Philly to cover as the lesser of two betting evils in this one.
NFL Week 8 Monday Night Football- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) at New York Giants (1-6)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers goes on the road as a 10 ½-point favorite with the total line set at 46 points against the New York Giants.
Tom Brady led his team to impressive victories over Green Bay and Las Vegas in his last two starts. His offense tallied a combined 83 points in those contests. The Buccaneers have scored at least 28 points in each of their five wins this season. The Giants are a bad team that cannot catch a break. Recently, a last-minute loss to Dallas was followed by a blown double-digit lead against the Philadelphia Eagles .
You would be safe laying the 10 ½ points on the road Monday night. However, I like the OVER on 46 points even better. The total has gone OVER in the last five games between these two NFC foes.
NFL Betting Trends For Week 8
Overall though seven weeks of NFL games, road underdogs are still leading the way ATS. They have covered 58 percent of the time. Road teams in general have a winning rate of 55.2 percent. Underdogs have also covered in 55.2 percent of the games played.
Those trends held true this past week with road dogs going 5-2 ATS. The road team covered in eight of 14 games with underdogs going 9-5 ATS. The total stayed UNDER in seven of the 14 games with one PUSH. Year-to-date, the total has gone OVER in 51.5 percent of the games played.
