NFL Week 1 Top NFL Betting Favorites and Best Wagering Underdogs
The Week 1 slate in the 2020 NFL regular season gets underway this Thursday night. The Super Bowl Champion Kanas City Chiefs are currently listed as nine-point home favorites against the Houston Texans.
There are a few other big spreads on the board at Bovada online sportsbook. Another one that stands out is the Baltimore Ravens as eight-point home favorites against the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns.

The pressure to live up to these lofty expectations can lead to one of two Week 1 results. The first is a shaky start that results in a straight-up loss. The more likely outcome is the failure to cover the spread. The other is a Week 1 romp.
I happen to think that the Chiefs and the Ravens will roll to double-digit victories. That is why these two teams top the list for my NFL Week 1 Top Betting Favorites.
An Interesting Find: Combining 2020 NFL Win Total Odds With Betting Playoff Chances.
The next category is Top Betting Underdogs. This becomes a bit more interesting with some solid teams getting points.
My first play would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as 3 ½-point road underdogs against the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints.
Behind future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, the Saints are perennial title contenders in the NFC. This year, MyBookie has New Orleans listed as a +550 second-favorite to win the conference championship. The San Francisco 49ers top the list at +500.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers is third at +600 with another future Hall of Famer under center. Tom Brady made the move to the Sunshine State from New England. He will also be extremely motivated to show Brees up in Sunday’s showdown. This game is a late 4:25 p.m. start on FOX.

Another interesting road underdog is the Arizona Cardinals. They are getting 7 ½ points against San Francisco in another late Sunday afternoon kickoff. There are two main reasons I am going with the underdog in this game:
- Arizona has had San Francisco’s number in recent years. The Cardinals are 4-0-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. Arizona has won eight of its last 10 games against the 49ers SU.
- Super Bowl hangovers are real. This is especially true for the team losing that game. The 49ers have a great chance of stumbling out of the gate given the way they lost Super Bowl LIV.
One final Week 1 underdog offering some great betting value is the Los Angeles Rams. They will host the Dallas Cowboys as three-point home underdogs on Sunday night.
The Rams slipped to 9-7 last year coming off their own loss in the Super Bowl. They will be highly motivated to get off to a fast start this season.
Dallas is an overvalued team because of the betting public. This is still a .500 football team that loves to shoot itself in the foot as a favorite.
