Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Betting Predictions, Odds, Picks, Lines & Props
The Dolphins (6-4 SU, 73-ATS) will be hoping to get back to their winning ways as they travel up the East Coast to New York to take on the winless Jets (0-10 SU, 3-7 ATS) in the Week 12 matchup. Miami saw their 5-game winning streak snapped against the Broncos last week and will be looking to bounce back against the Jets and get back into contention for the top spot in the AFC East. The Jets are close to a whole year without a win, but every once in a while they manage to put together a decent performance, especially at home where they are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games as underdogs.
Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Betting Line Movement
The Dolphins opened as -7 favorites and that line has held steady for most of the week. The total saw some more movement, opening at 46 before dropping to 44 or 44.5 depending on where you place your bet.
Notes On The Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins hit a bump on the road vs the Broncos and the big story out of that game is the decision to bench rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa after three quarters in favor of the experienced Ryan Fitzpatrick. They still lost, making the last week’s game the first loss in the young QB’s career with his record now standing at 3-1. Tagovailoa will keep his starting spot for the time being, and the Jets game is the perfect matchup for him to rebound from the poor performance. The loss and the QB situation may have steered the conversation away from Miami’s defense which had yet another solid performance and is the main reason behind the Dolphins’ winning record.
Tagovailoa had a bad game last week and it was already the second time he threw for under 100 yards. However, with the Jets giving up bunches of points to whomever they are playing against, Tua might still be a decent fantasy pick this week as long as you don’t mind the shadow of Fitzpatrick looming over every time he makes a bad pass or gets sacked.
Notes On The New York Jets
The disastrous season for the Jets continued last week with the loss to the Chargers and the people around the league now seem more interested in talking about Sam Darnold’s future if the Jets get the expected first pick than the actual games. Still, they are showing some signs of improvement now that they have most of their offensive starters, except Darnold, back and have a total of 55 points in their last two games. Deputizing for Darnold, Joe Flacco is not spectacular but has produced some solid displays throwing for six touchdowns in four games.
None of the Jets really excite fantasy players, but the pair of receivers, Breshad Perriman and rookie Denzel Mims, seem to enjoy playing with Flacco and could have a decent game on Sunday, despite Miami’s excellent defense. On the other hand, Jamison Crowder is going the opposite direction and he had only 5 targets combined in the two last games with Flacco as a starter.
Week 12 NFL Betting Pick: Miami Dolphins -7
Even though they play divisional rivals away from home, the Dolphins have to win this game to catch up with Buffalo and expect them to be aggressive from the start. The Dolphins’ defense is one of the best in the league and should be able to keep the Jets under control.
