Kansas City Chiefs Lay 23 Points On The New York Jets For Week 8 Betting Action
The Sunday matchup between the Chiefs (6-1 SU, 5-2 ATS) and the Jets (0-7, 1-6ATS) will feature the biggest spread of the season so far and it’s not hard to figure out why. It’s a David and Goliath fight between two teams on opposite sides of the NFL quality spectrum where we have Super Bowl favorites on one side and the punching bag of the league on the other.
New York Jets Kansas City Chiefs Betting Odds, Spread & Line Movement
The current line favors Kansas City by -20 but it has opened at the even higher -23. The total was set at 48 for most of the week before moving to 49 where it is at the moment.
Thoughts on Kansas City Chiefs Defeating The New York Jets
The Chiefs are coming out of two dominant wins, proving that the defeat against the Raiders in week 5 was just a bump on the road. The Patrick Mahomes-led attack was never in doubt, but the defense is also putting in the work keeping all of their opponents, except the Raiders, at 20 points or fewer. The arsenal at Andy Reid’s disposal got even scarier with the addition of Le’Veon Bell and the New York defense will have to be even better than last week for Jets to have even a glimmer of hope of keeping this close.
Patrick Mahomes continues to be a sure-fire fantasy pick, but be careful putting him in the DFS lineup because he may be pulled out early if the game takes the course we all expect. WR Tyreek Hill will have a field day against the Jets who don’t feature a single cornerback that can stop him. The Chiefs didn’t run much against the Broncos, so we can’t be sure how many chances will Le’Veon Bell get, but he’ll surely be extra motivated against the team that cut him.
Thoughts on The New York Jets Beating The Kansas City Chiefs
Last week we finally saw some improvement from the New York Jets, meaning they managed to lose by less than 10 points only the second time this season. New York actually started the game pretty good with 193 yards on their first three drives, jumping out to a 10-0 lead. But in the second half, they somehow managed to go for only four yards making sure that they stay on their way to a 0-16 season. If there’s anything positive to take from this game it’s their defense, especially in the red zone allowing zero touchdowns for Buffalo.
From the fantasy perspective, there really isn’t much to choose from when it comes to Jets. QB Sam Darnold came back against the Buffalo Bills after missing two games but managed only 120 yards with barely 50% completion and two interceptions. RBs Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine were solid last time out, but probably won’t get the chance to run much against the Kanas City Chiefs. We can’t even count on the points in garbage time, since the Chiefs defense doesn’t have the habit of letting down, even in the blowouts.
NFL Week 8 Betting Pick New York Jets+20
The recent improvement in the Jets’ defense gives us hope that they can keep this under the three touchdowns, especially since the Chiefs’ offense may take their foot off the gas a little if the game starts heading towards the blowout.
