There have been some bold attempts to rob casinos in the past. Most have failed given the high level of security at any real money casino gambling establishment. Some of the schemes have been elaborate, requiring highly technical equipment. Some attempts are subtle robberies utilizing slight of hand and other diversion tactics.

The boldest robbery attempts have been pulled off by thieves with masks and weapons. The latest attempt could be put at the top of the list for stupidity. The Record-Courier in Carson Valley, Nevada relayed the event. A male suspect from Gardnerville Ranchos was accused of jimmying slot machines at an area Harrah’s casino. The incident was reported on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the morning hours. Apparently, the suspect was caught using a tire iron to jimmy open the machines.

What Nevada Man Got Arrested for Attempted Slot Machine Break In?

Casino security detained Reece J. Lindahl, age 29 for allegedly trying to break into more than one slot machine. The security officers told deputies at the scene that the suspect came into the casino with the tire iron. He was not identified trying to break into the first machine. They were able to detain Lindahl when he was caught using the tire iron to pry into a second slot machine .

Area deputies responded to a call by Harrah’s for a damage report. They then arrested the suspect and he was taken into custody at 10:45 a.m. He has initially been charged with felony burglary and possession of burglary tools.

The Nevada casinos’ security staff was also able to provide the authorities with actual footage of the event. The suspect is seen using the tire iron to pry open the slot machine. This failed casino burglary attempt is hysterically funny on its own merit. Yet, the comment section of the actual post added some even more humor to this story.

“Really, you walk into a casino with a tire iron and think you can just pop open a machine without consequence? He must have had some good meth”

Also unidentified in the report was the actual Harrah’s property. Given that the court proceedings are in Tahoe Township, you could assume it is Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. An online search revealed that there is a Harrah’s New Orleans and a Harrah’s Reno in the general area.
