In an effort to get their first home win in over a year, the Lions (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) will be hosting the Colts (4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS) this Sunday at Ford Field for an interconference matchup. While Detroit will be trying to break their awful home streak, Indianapolis has been almost equally bad on the road, losing seven of their last eight games away from Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis Colts vs Detroit Lions Betting Odds, Spread & Line Movement

Detroit is entering the game as the underdogs at the price per player bookies and it’s the 12th time in their last 14 home games. The line is set at +3 or +2.5 depending on the bookie. The total is set at 50 and hasn’t moved much all week.

Thoughts on Indianapolis Colts Defeating The Detroit Lions

The Indianapolis Colts have been solid for the better part of the season and now find themselves breathing down Tennessee Titans‘s neck in the AFC South. Admittedly, they had a pretty easy schedule and their wins came against the teams from the bottom half of the league. They built the most of their success so far on the back of the stingy defense, but the last two games, against the Browns and the Bengals, exposed some issues on that side of the ball. However, on Sunday, they do get back their Pro Bowl linebacker Darius Leonard who missed the last two games due to a groin injury.

QB Phillip Rivers put up good numbers in the last game throwing for 371 yards and three touchdowns. Still, the Colts fell behind pretty early and were forced to play through the air a lot, so be careful if you plan to put him in your fantasy lineup. The Lions rush defense ranks in the bottom five and allow more than a touchdown per game on the ground, so this game may be an opportunity for the RB Jonathan Taylor who’s been performing well on a limited number of carries.

Thoughts On The Detroit Lions Beating The Indianapolis Colts

The Lions have choked a few times this season losing the games they should have won, but last week they managed to turn the cards and snatch last-seconds victory against the Atlanta Falcons. That was their second consecutive win and, although both came against bad teams, it put them back in the playoff contention. To get something against the more serious opposition, their defense will have to show drastic improvement. We already mentioned how poor they are against running, but their secondary has probably been even worse.

Last week, QB Matthew Stafford had his first 300-yards game this season, but only threw for one touchdown as he did against the Jaguars. The fact that he’s facing a much tougher defense this week doesn’t instill confidence when it comes to putting him in the fantasy lineup. The RB duo, Adrian Peterson and D’Andre Swift, also don’t promise much, although Swift had the touchdown last Sunday. The only Detroit player with consistent fantasy value is probably WR Kenny Golladay, who had either 100 yards or a touchdown in each of his four starts this campaign.

NFL Week 8 Betting Picks

NFL Week 8 Betting Pick & Prediction Indianapolis Colts -2.5

The Colts traditionally perform well after a bye week and their rested defense on week 7, and the ball-control offense should prove to be too much for the Lions.
