Notes On The Indiana Pacers
The Pacers’ season is not going the way they expected, but they still find themselves in a pretty good position to earn the play-in spot. Last night they sneaked past Detroit, winning 115-109. It was another game where they couldn’t count on several key players. Malcolm Brogdon led the way for the Pacers with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Caris Levert continued with excellent performances after overcoming health issues adding 25 points. His addition may be the best thing that happened to the Pacers this season. Edmond Sumner also had a breakout performance, scoring 22 while shooting 4-from-5 for three. While ranking around the middle of the league in the overall offensive performance, the Pacers have been surprisingly potent away from home. Their road offense ranks 4th in the NBA.
For tonight, the Pacers are without the long-term absentees Turner and Warren. Sabonis, Lamb, and Bitadze are listed as questionable.
Notes On The Orlando Magic
After trading Gordon, Vucevic, and Fournier at the deadline, the Magic went all-in on tanking. And in that respect, they’ve been doing pretty well. They’ve lost 10 times in the last 11 games, and are on a 7-game home losing streak. With Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, Otto Porter Jr. all out, they’re obviously not a competitive NBA team at the moment. Their focus is clearly on developing young players and they got some decent production from 2020 first-round picks Okeke, Hampton, and Anthony, as well as the deadline acquisition Carter Jr. Their last game vs the Pelicans, ended in the 135-100 blowout, but the Magic will be encouraged by with Mo Bamba’s performance. The former 6th pick hasn’t been developing as expected in the past two years but managed to score 17 and ad 12 rebounds on Thursday.
Orlando is still without the services of Fultz, Isaac, and Porter Jr., and Carter-Williams. Ennis, Carter Jr., and Ross are game time decisions.
Indiana Pacers vs Orlando Magic Betting Prediction, & Pick: Indiana -5.5
The Pacers have been up and down lately, but should have enough to easily beat the ice-cold Magic. Indiana’s on the back-to-back but should have at least some of the injured players back. Plus, Orlando is on a 1-6 ATS streak at home. In addition, the game has much more importance to the Pacers.
