Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans Betting Picks, Odds, Lines & Predictions
The Packers (4-1 SU, 4-1 ATS) will be eager to prove that the drubbing at the hands of the Buccaneers last week was just an anomaly as they face the Houston Texans (1-5 SU, 1-5 ATS) in Sunday’s matchup. Houston is having a lot of issues this year, but have shown signs of improvement in the last two games.
Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans Betting Line Movement
The Texans are entering the game as a +3.5 underdog and have lost nine of the last eleven games when in that situation. The total opened at 56 earlier this week and has been raised a bit, standing at 57 at the moment.
Thoughts On The Green Bay Packers Beating The Houston Texans
Aaron Rodgers had a nightmare of a game against the Buccaneers being sacked four times and throwing two interceptions. However, that poor performance came against the league’s top defense, and this week, legendary QB will be facing a much easier task against a leaky Houston defense which ranks near the bottom of the league. They have allowed whooping 600 total yards against the Tennessee Titans last week and maybe the perfect opposition for Rodgers and his offense to bounce back. The Packers have a history of rebounding after bad performances, covering the spread in the last ten games coming after the one where they failed to do so.
Ryan Tannehill toyed with Houston secondary and Rodgers could put up even bigger numbers especially since he is motivated to put the last week’s dud behind him. He’s been a reliable source of fantasy points this season and one game shouldn’t change that. Similar logic should apply to RB Aaron Jones who’s facing one of the words run defenses in football this Sunday. WR Davante Adams also underperformed against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he was just coming back from an injury. Still, he had more targets than anyone else, and after one more week of recovery, should be raring to go.
Thoughts On The Houston Texans Beating The Green Bay Packers
After a terrible streak to open the season, the Green Bay Packers showed signs of life over the last two weeks, winning against the Jaguars and taking the Titans to overtime. However, the disastrous defense reared its ugly head again in Nashville, and Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill did pretty much what they wanted.
The good news is that the offense is in prime form with QB DeShaun Watson who threw for 694 yards and 7 touchdowns in the last two games, and WR Will Fuller showing what’s he capable of when healthy with a touchdown in each of the last four games.
Four touchdowns against the Titans are season-high for Watson and fantasy players hope that he’s found his elite gear, especially with the Houston schedule clearing up a bit in the next few weeks. Will Fuller is up for a tough matchup against Packers’ DB Jaire Alexander but has proven that he can bring points no matter who’s he going up against. Brandin Cook has also caught fire since Bill O’Brian’s firing and has touchdowns in back-to-back games.
Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans Betting Pick: Over 57
If we ignore the last week’s Green Bay outing, this is a matchup between two of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. The Packers will look to exploit all of the deficiencies of Houston defense, but DeShaun Watson and co are more than capable of joining the shootout.
