Notes On The Golden State Warriors
Most of Golden state’s recent success has been a product of Steph Curry’s incredible form. The All-star guard now has seven consecutive games with at least 32 points. Three days ago, he dropped 53 on the Nuggets, becoming the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. Last night he torched the Thunder for another 42 points. The Warriors controlled the last night’s game from start to finish, entering the final quarter with a 42-point lead. It allowed them to rest some of their key players before the second back-to-back game on their East road trip. None of the starters against OKC played more than 30 minutes. It seems that coach Kerr’s slight shift from democratic ball movement to putting the ball more in his best player’s hands is starting to pay dividends. Over the last 10 games, the Dubs are averaging 113.8 points, on 47.4% from the field.
Besides Klay Thompson and James Wiseman who are out long-term, the Warriors are also without Eric Paschall. Kelly Oubre Jr’ is listed as questionable.
Notes On The Cleveland Cavaliers
Cleveland’s focus this season is obviously on player development and draft position, but they’ve been showing flashes of quality basketball. The Cavs are already a feisty defensive team and have allowed only 108.3 points over the last 10 games. It’s a solid improvement over their season average of 111.4. Last night they’ve kept depleted Charlotte to only 90 points and managed to win even without their best scorer, Collin Sexton. Kevin Love and Darius Garland scored 17 points each. Taurean Prince was sensational from the bench with 25. However, they’ve often struggled on offense. This season they’ve averaged league-worst 103.9. Sexton is listed as GTD and his potential return should ease some of the offensive woes. If he misses out against, the Cavs will likely again roll with the super-sized lineup featuring Okoro at the 2.
Besides Sexton, Dylan Windler and Dameyean Dotson are also listed as questionable.
Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Pick: Warriors -8
Steph Curry is simply unstoppable right now. And, with the weak spot in the Cavaliers’ defense being exactly at the point of attack, Curry should be in for another 30+ game. Also, the last night’s blowout has allowed the Warriors some rest. Golden State has feasted on lottery teams this season and we don’t see it changing tonight.
