Casino Mogul is Bullish On Business in Las Vegas
Derek Stevens has already made a name for himself in Las Vegas. He first invested in the casino gambling capital of the world in 2006. This is when he bought Golden Gate on Fremont Street. Since that point, he has added D Las Vegas, the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center and Circa Sportsbook to the list.
Derek Stevens’s outlook on Las Vegas was featured. He obviously remains bullish in the midst of his biggest project to date. As construction continues, Stevens is the principal behind Circa Resort & Casino. This is a new 511-room hotel-casino set to open its doors towards the end of next year.
Why Is Casino Mogul, Derek Stevens Bullish On Las Vegas?
This will be the first new casino resort to be built in the downtown area of Las Vegas in decades. The Circa will definitely stand out among the crowd with its highly contemporary design. This area of town has become known for casino action reminiscent of old-school Las Vegas. The downtown area is still a night-and-day comparison to the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip. The Circa will add some cutting-edge flair to that part of town.
Some of these new property’s features include the longest outdoor bar. It will be located beneath the Fremont Street Experience canopy. There will be a multi-level, stadium-style sportsbook with a massive screen for sports fans. This will all be highlighted by a multi-tiered pool amphitheater.
Stevens commented on that final feature by adding, “This is going to be the best pool in the history of the world.”
He was recently interviewed by the USA Today Network. The main topic of the discussion centered on the changing business climate in the Las Vegas downtown corridor. Right off the bat, Stevens sees professional sports teams as the driving force.
Recent Development Of The Freemont East
He also pointed out the recent retail development of Freemont East. Not long ago, nothing existed in this area. Now, it is filled with bars and restaurants to create a highly energetic atmosphere. On the casino front, the California was recently renovated. A new tower is being built at the Downtown Grand. Stevens’ D Las Vegas already has a new fresh look and the Circa is set to be the crown jewel.
Nevada’s lack of income tax was one of the initial draws for Stevens from an investment standpoint. He first started with the Golden Gate to see how this area would evolve. The recession of 2008 actually created quite a bit of investment opportunity. It helped to bring a new wave of entrepreneurs to fuel the resurgence.
Stevens is a big sports fan. This was one of the reasons for his Circa Sportsbook project. He wanted design a bar that could air every single game he wanted to see. The property was also designed around his past experiences visiting Las Vegas for business and pleasure. He wanted to make the Circa a place where sports fans love to hang out.
Stevens is hoping the area can attract additional professional sports franchises. Las Vegas is currently home to the NHL’s Golden Knights. The NFL’s Raiders are set to take up their new residency in time for the 2020 season.
