Betting The 2020 College Football Season Openers
The coronavirus pandemic had a major impact on sports in early spring. Professional leagues such as the MLB, NBA and NHL returned to play in late July. The 2020 NFL season kicks things off this week with a full schedule of Week 1 games. The college football season is trying to press on this fall. However, there will be some missing pieces in the national title race. Three of the five major conferences will play a modified schedule. The other two have suspended play as of now.
The ACC, Big 12 and SEC are playing football this season. The Big Ten and Pac-12 are not. While this may have college football fans upset, bettors still have plenty of action on the board.

In a head-to-head ACC matchup, the Clemson Tigers are 32.5-point road favorites against Wake Forest. Clemson will start the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.
North Carolina is another ranked ACC team at No. 18. The Tar Heels will open their season as 22.5-point home favorites against Syracuse.
A few teams from the Big 12 will also be in action on Saturday, Sept. 12. Iowa State is ranked No. 23. The Cyclones will play host to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns as 11.5-point home favorites.
Also in action from the Big 12 on Saturday night is the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners. They will start the season as heavy 40.5-point home favorites against Missouri State.
The No. 14 Texas Longhorns will face UTEP in Saturday’s season opener. They have been opened as 43.5-point home favorites.
The Big 12’s Texas Tech Red Raiders, Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats will also open their season this Saturday.
The SEC will make its debut two weeks later on Sept. 26. The Alabama Crimson Tide is the highest ranked team in that conference at No. 3. They will open up on the road against Missouri as 21.5-point favorites.
The LSU Tigers will start the season at No. 6 in the national polls. They have been opened as 16-point home favorites against Mississippi State in their season opener.
At No. 8, the Florida Gators will be on the road that Saturday against Ole Miss. The Gators are favored by 10.5 points.
The Georgia Bulldogs are another top team in the SEC at No. 4. They will open their season Saturday night as 23.5-point road favorites against Arkansas.
A quick glance at the NCAAF futures odds to win this year’s national championship favors Clemson at +175 betting odds. Alabama is a close second at +250.
