2021 NBA Championship Futures Odds
The NBA are due to start the new season just before Christmas in a bid to get back to as normal a schedule as possible after what has been a crazy year for most sporting schedules. As things now hopefully start getting back to normal BetOnline is on it. They’ve got everything you can think of pretty much covered, including the NBA Championship Futures Odds. Take a look at this little selection for example.
NBA Coach of the Year Awards 2021
- Steve Nash +750
- Tyronn Lue +900
- Monty Williams +1000
- Brad Stevens +1200
- Erik Spoelstra +1200
- Frank Vogel +1200
- Doc Rivers +1400
- Stan Van Gundy +1600
- Michael Malone +1800
- Lloyd Pierce +2000
- James Borrego +2500
Now, in my opinion, Steve Nash is a clear favourite for obvious reasons.
Most people agree that with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving playing together the Brooklyn Nets are sure to make huge progress in their performance. The problem is, if Durant and Irving are calling all the shots, where does that leave Nash? It’s surely difficult, if not impossible, to multi-coach. You’re either the coach or not.
Tyronn Lue looks interesting at +900. He’s a former guard who has recently been coaching for a championship team in Cleveland. He is now with the L.A. Clippers but only time will tell whether he will emerge as a star in his own right or remain in the shadows of other big stars like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for example.
Monty Williams at +1000 looks very interesting. Surely he played a big part in Phoenix Suns much improved performance, though they won all but eight and still come up short of a playoff spot. They now have Chris Paul so watch this space. Williams role in getting them to this point, however, shouldn’t be underestimated.
I’m not really as convinced with Brad Stevens and Erik Spoelstra even at +1200. The NBA Coach of the Year Awards is usually won by a coach who has helped secure a dramatic improvement form one season to the next or, in some other way, done something spectacular. Neither Stevens nor Spoelstra stand out in my mind as having done anything super special enough to take down the Coach of the Year Award.
Interesting props and futures in advance of the NBA Betting season
A few other interesting candidates on the list who I think it is worth looking at include James Barrego. He seems to have an eye for talent. Just take a look at LaMelo Ball, for example. Sure, he might be an outsider at +2500 but no one can argue that he is not at least a contender. Stan Van Gundy has done reasonably well with the New Orleans Pelicans. Don’t rule out Lloyd Pierce either, he’s been steadily making progress, a little of which every day makes a big difference over the course of a season.
