Combining 2020 NFL Win Total Odds With Betting Playoff Chances
One of the most heavily bet NFL team options is the OVER/UNDER odds on projected wins. Most of the action is placed before the new season gets underway. A great way to enhance that bet is the Yes/No option for making the playoffs.
One way to go is finding a team that will fall below expectations with its win total. The next bet is NO, that team will not make the playoffs. You can also bet the opposite way. Combine the OVER on team wins with YES, they it will qualify for the postseason.
How Can I Win Money Combining 2020 NFL Win Total Odds With Betting Playoff Chances?
BetOnline online sportsbook has recently updated its betting odds for both of these options. The best way to find value in the odds is by starting with a few middle-of-the-road teams.
For example, the projected wins for the Los Angeles Rams is 8 ½ games. The betting odds favor the UNDER at -135 with +105 odds they win at least nine games. The betting odds that Rams make the playoffs this year are set at +160.
This is a team that is just two years removed from a Super Bowl run. They slipped to 9-7 last year to barely miss out on a wild card playoff berth.
Most experts continue to lean towards San Francisco winning the NFC West. The 49ers are coming off a brutal loss in last year’s title game. They could be primed to take a big step backwards. Seattle is the other top contender in that division. The gap between the Seahawks and Rams is not as wide as you think.

Given the plus money odds for the OVER on 8 ½ wins and making the playoffs, the Rams would be one of my ‘best bets’ to double down on.
Conversely, the NFC North’s Minnesota Viking have -150 odds they will make the playoffs this year. The Vikings’ win total is set at 9 games with -125 odds on the OVER. The betting odds for UNDER on that total are -105.
Minnesota continues to be overvalued in light of past results. Granted, the Vikings won 10 games last year to make the playoffs as a wild card team. However, the last time they qualified for the postseason in back to back seasons was 2009.
Consistency has always been an issue for Minnesota over the past 10 seasons. Mike Zimmer’s team as head coach has made and missed the playoffs three times each in six years. I am betting on another step backwards to eight wins and no playoff appearance in 2020.
From one season to the next, the turnover rate in the playoffs is huge. The Buffalo Bills could be suspect in the AFC East at -200 odds to make the playoffs again.

The value play could be the -105 odds on the UNDER 9 wins. The odds for the OVER are -125.
The Houston Texans offer some solid value to make the playoffs at +150 odds. The AFC South has remained one of the most wide open division races in the NFL the past several seasons.
